Description
Discophiles Francais DF 209-210 Bach violin sonatas. Michelle Auclair violin. Marie Claire Alain, organ. original edition (not a reissue!). 2 lp set in linnen gatefold and golden testured text. First deep groove labels. Extremely rare!
The Sleeve is in a great EX condition. without serious wear or damage. Spine is still intact and text on spine is readable. A very fine sleeve!,
The condition of the records is mixed. DF early pressings never are quiet, because their pressings were not of high quality. So please consider that when buying. If you want a silent lp, you shlould buy the reissue!.
DF 209 side 1 is EX-, and plays with only soft background noise. Side 2 is VG/VG+, it plays with more surface noise and a few repetative ticks.
DF 210 side 1 is EX-, again with the usual DF surface noise. more quiet surface to the end of this side. Side 2 is the worst of the set, with a number of little scratches causing repetative ticks in the first half. Second half of this side is a bit better. this side is VG. No skips of jumps.
This set was play graded with 2 sets, using a stereo cartridge and a mono cartridge. the Lp's played better using a mono cartridge. I used a vintage Thorens TD150 with a grado mono cartridge. This resulted in less background noise. But still there was background ticking and noise, and ticks from the scratches on DF 210 side 2.
Summary: nice set, excelent sleeve. Sides 2 of both records play with ticking and noise. Sides 1 ok with the usual light background noise. Not perfect, but still ok. Do not bid if you want a perfect copy!

Grading:
- M: never used. We don't use this grade unless the record is sealed
- NM: Hardly any visible and no audible faults.
- EX: Record has obviously been used, but has no major audible faults, some non sounding marks possible, maybe some dirt or light surface noise (especially on older mono record, surface noise is quite normal) and a few random ticks. Sleeve has wear on edges and/ or ring wear and may be a bit dirty.
- VG+: Light audible faults, ticks or surface noise. Sleeve may have some light damage (a small tear, seam split or dirt).
- VG: record has scratches or other defects, but is still playable. Sleeve has tears, splits, or other damage.
