Description
This is a very rare issue of the "Pinocchio" original motion picture soundtrack from 1956. I have never encountered another copy of this LP anywhere! It's part of the Disneyland "WDL-4000" series--Disney's first in-house record label 12" albums.
This is the most collectible Disney series! These were quality produced albums, initially targeted at the "adult" market buyers, but they did not sell well. They had vibrant cover graphics and colors, substantial cardboard covers and were excellent vinyl pressings. Many animation art collectors have bought some of these titles at auction as substitutes for near cel-quality artwork. They originally sold for $4.98 each.
"Pinocchio" was only the second LP released on the Disneyland label, and was one of only two LPs issued on the original yellow labels.
ARTIST & TITLE: Cliff Edwards, others; "Music From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Walt Disney's Pinocchio"
LABEL & NO: Disneyland WDL-4002
YEAR & FORMAT: 1956 mono LP
CONDITION: VG 5, VG-EX 6 (cover very good, disc very good to excellent)
DESCRIPTION: Cover is still glossy and displays well, but has light overall wear with several splits (1 1/2" top right, 8" on spine, 2 1/2" bottom center, 3" bottom right) and some creasing at the top and bottom right corners. Front has no tears or writing but back has some writing around the song titles (see scan). Disc is clean, but with light marks overall, and plays very well, but with some slight surface noise. Side two has one scratch that is quiet but audible throughout three tracks. Both labels are very clean with faint spindle marks only.
In an effort to describe the condition as accurately as possible, I've given what may sound like a long list of defects, but this record is actually in very good shape compared with the vast majority of Disney LPs of this vintage.
