Vulgar Unicorn were a very innovative British three-piece progressive rock band mixing heavy riffs with quieter acoustic moments with its musical influences ranging from Magellan, Genesis, King Crimson, Yes and Anthony Phillips. After releasing three albums, Vulgar Unicorn have morphed into Persona Non Grata and Pineapple Thief. All Vulgar Unicorn's releases contained great mostly-instrumental modern progressive rock, not neo-prog but rather a unique style of progressive that demonstrates an awareness of current developments in music, especially technological. The best reference is Porcupine Tree. Even though Vulgar Unicorn only occasionally sound like them, there are similar aesthetics in both bands music. "Divadroid International" is the infamous lost thrd album which Vulgar Unicorn once discarded, found again, misplaced, then found again. Since the group had by then finished "Jet Set Radio", they didn’t consider that this should have a full release, but after much discussion, it came out as a limited edition Cyclops Club release. "Divadroid International" is full of invention as one would expect, with loops and samples flying at the listener from all directions. The sound is very contemporary, more techno and electronica oriented than other Vulgar Unicorn albums. The CD runs 61-minutes and contains a bonus multimedia section featuring an amateur film plus 50-minutes worth of mp3 files, all unreleased tracks from Vulgar Unicorn and various side projects. CD was released in 2004 on Cyclops Records and features 9 tracks.
