No mastering engineer is credited on the jacket, typical for Verve's late-1950s Clef/Norgran-descended releases produced under Norman Granz's direct supervision; original pressing plants for Verve at this time were generally high quality, and collectors on forums.stevehoffman.tv regard these early deep-groove trumpeter-label Verves as full-bodied and dynamic, if occasionally variable in surface quality given 1950s manufacturing. This trumpeter-label pressing sits at the top of the fidelity hierarchy for the title - later 1960s black-label MGM-era pressings and 1990s/2000s European CD-era reissues are generally considered flatter and more compressed by comparison. No audiophile-grade reissue (Analogue Productions, Mobile Fidelity, Speakers Corner) of this specific title is known to exist, leaving the original trumpeter pressing as the reference cut for collectors.
Musicians: Dizzy Gillespie (trumpet, vocals on track 1), Sonny Rollins (tenor saxophone), Sonny Stitt (tenor saxophone), Ray Bryant (piano), Tom Bryant (bass), Charlie Persip (drums)
