Description
This is an original, first press copy of Mercury 71982, "It's Sure Gonna Hurt" and "The Love You Gave" by Dolly Parton, from 1962 - approximately September of that year. Below this description you will find a photo of each side, and you can click on each photo to hear a 20 second sound clip of each side of the record. The sound clips have not been altered in any way - what you hear is what you get if you are the high bidder. Neither side skips on my turntable.
The labels carry no writing, no stickers, or no sticker removal marks that I can see. Please refer to photos for exact conditions of the labels.
The A-side, "It's Sure Gonna Hurt", carries a visual grade of VG+ and a play grade of M-. There are no audio problems that I can detect when playing this side - it is a very, very strong player with great fidelity. Note the scuff at the 3 O'Clock position of the picture - it is not audible. The sound clip you hear for this side is of the first 20 seconds of the recording, and it represents well the sound quality of the entire side.
The B-side, "The Love You Gave," carries a visual grade of VG+. As for the play grade, this record has a couple of barely audible ticks at the start of the recording, due to a small scuff at the 1 O'Clock position. There is also a scratch just above the 3 O-'Clock position that is audible. You can see both of these in the photo below. Note - you can also see some "carpet fuzz" on the right side of the picture as well, which comes right off (and found its way back every time I tried to take the pictures). Remove the carpet fuzz from the picture, and all that would be visible in the picture are the aforementioned scuff and scratch. The sound clip you hear of this side is of the scratched portion of the recording, in the middle. When listening to the sound clip below, you are hearing the worst audio problem this 45 has on either side. This side is also a strong player with great fidelity, taking into consideration the scratch. Please click on the pictures to hear the sound clips.
If the high bidder is in the USA, shipping will be $8.00, which does include insurance. If $8 ends up to be an overestimate, the shipping/insurance cost will be lowered accordingly, but will not exceed $8 if the record is shipped in the USA. If the high bidder is not in the USA, the shipping and insurance costs will be calculated after the close of the auction, based on the final mailing destination.
Very important - payment will only be accepted in US Dollars. Paypal is gladly accepted. Check or money order (check must clear first) if the high bidder is a USA resident. If the high bidder is not in the USA, Paypal is the only accepted means of payment for this item. If there are any questions, please email and I will do my best to answer completely and honestly. Thanks and good luck if you decide to bid. The only reason for the low opening bid is to invite bidders - I don't like bidding on items with a high reserve, therefore I don't allow myself to set reserves when I sell. Whatever the final bid price is, is what the item is worth. Please see photos below and click on each picture to hear the corresponding sound clip.
