Welcome to our (continued!) Winter Holiday Special 2025 "Mega" Jazz-Funk, Soul Jazz, Spiritual, Fusion, Private Press, Part 2.The main focus is jazz-funk, spiritual jazz, fusion, soul-jazz, rare groove lp's, largely from the late 1960's-1970's into the early 80's, all originals, no reissues! WE COMBINE SHIPPING! :)
Approximately 190 lp's, all originals (no reissues!), many have soundclips, which are from the actual record!

This week features part II, there was so much we just didn't have the time to properly list in the first auction, from nearly every Dobre release including Les Demerle "Transfusion", Hannibal and The Sunrise Orchestra on MPS, Gil Scott-Heron on Strata-East, nearly every Eddie Henderson release including both on Capricorn, the rare 1976 lp "Heritage" on Blue Note among others, a large curated portion of the Muse label catalogue featuring both Walt Barr's, Carlos Garnett, Walter Bishop, Joe Chambers, among others, the Mainstream Red Lion label, from Roy Haynes, Harold Land, Buddy Terry, Shelly Manne, Curtis Fuller, Mike Longo, Hal Galper and others, also Cobblestone, Groove Merchant, large selections of the best on CTI, Vanguard, rare Latin Jazz-Funk / Fusion including Jorge Dalto's "Chevre" among others, rare private presses, vocal jazz, including one rare original CD of Shirley Nanette that hasn't shown up in years! Media Grade:  EX (deadstock copy, unsealed by me years ago, it seems to have had sleeve scuffs from the paper sleeve from being sealed for so long, high-gloss, almost NM)
Sleeve Grade:  NM (still in original shrink)

Brief Comments: *So to begin with, the mispress doesn't have the corrected track listings, let me go head and list them out: A1 "Family Talk" -(shifted from A3 to A1) A2 "Braun-Blek-Blu" (repeated) A3 "After Sunrise" (recorded during same sessions, only released on the mispress, not even on the Anthology CD is it availible) B1 "Ponteio" (same placement as correct press) B2 "Braun-Blek-Blu" - (yes same track twice) B3 "Adeus Maria Fulo" (also same placement as correct press)
^We lose "Cinnamon Flower" and "Dom's Tune", but gain "After Sunrise", I think Ponteio, or Family Talk would have been more of devastating loss... This was supplied by a kind soul, whose version came with a Muse typed letter of the mispress track listing. 
I don't know why After Sunrise never appears anywhere else, on any format, literally only buying the mispress from 1974 is how you can get it, and it's a truly killer track, one of my favorties along with "Ponteio" and "Family Talk", (Ok, I miss Dom's Tune, it's a close favorite, but I can get that on any streaming, subsequent pressings, anthologies, whereas that's not possible with "After Sunrise").
I sound like the oldest 32 year old, going into "back in my day", because I started early in my teens diggin'. I got into Muse looking for Carlos Garnett, but I'd pick anything up (virtually anything on the label), and I can't tell you how many were .50 cents, at most $5 or less, it was not yet the repped label it would deservedly become. Back in ohhhh, 2012 for example, the most expensive (and mind you, it's not like they were ever common, I had them on my Discogs wantlist, some eBay saved searches) Muse releases were: Roy Brooks at about $75 for a minty copy, there was Catalyst's second album for $50-60,(and for the third $45-$50, fourth $25-$35), Walter Bishop's "Soul Village" was $35-$50, The Visitors "In My Youth" was $40-$50, Carlos Garnett's "Cosmos Nucleus" was $50-$70 (Let This Melody Ring On $25-$40, same for "Black Love"), Neal Creque & Hands Of Time was $25-$40 tops, Buster Williams - Pinnacle about $30-$40, (Albert Heath's Kwanza could go as high as $30, usually $12-$20), and everything else*(*one crucial exception I'll get to!), in minty shape was not typically going above $25. You might say, what about Joe Chambers, The Almoravid, Double Exposure? The Almoravid when it showed up, $25, Double Exposure when it showed up may not have been $15. I'm still kicking myself for not having enough $ that time I caught Clifford Jordan's "Night Of Mark VII" for $6....I was buying instead a rare private press unknown (it did end up working out, but that $6 haunts me, no joke!), I passed on Jimmy Heath's  "Love and Understanding" twice, one being $9...(it's not I didn't love them, it's I found other stuff that day, that in that day, seemed more urgent to get), Woody Shaw wasn't even above $20 for shrink copies.... Richard Davis hovered at $15-$20, sometimes less, Kenny Barron...I won't even say, I'm just glad I didn't let Sunset To Dawn still in the shrink pass up...I did pass on Lucifer at $15, I'm afraid to say (it was still there at that shop for like a year!), Peruvian Blue for $5....but there's plenty and more I did pick up, in most of those cases, again I thought I had time, they weren't flying away then.... 
*So the one crucial exception? That would be this one right here, Dom Um Romao's s/t 1974 lp, it was considered "the expensive $40" release on Muse, having gotten deep in the label, this was naturally one I had to get, I finally got one at a reasonable price at the time, a sealed deadstock copy, I just knew it was repped (a big deal for a Muse Record at the time!), I hadn't even heard a clip. I unsealed it, played it, and by the time it got to B2, I was like what in the.... because A2 was also B2 (or rather B2 is also A2). There were clips of a few tracks on YouTube, and I could tell something was up, the Discogs did have a mispress listing, but it took a few years for anyone to finally put the correct track list (I recall knowing that A3 was not a track that appeared, I'd cross-referenced enough, to know it wasn't "Dom's Tune" or "Cinnamon Flower", every other track was accounted for), I had actually gotten Dom Um Romao's second Muse lp first, so I knew it wasn't a track off that one. I also knew it was a killer track, I could have returned it, gotten my $ back even though I had unsealed it, the record store was very understanding, I brought it up in passing, and they on their own offered full store credit (which was as good or better as $  back to me!), but I liked it, I loved Family Talk, Ponteio definitely, Adeus Maria Fulo is fine wine, and that mystery A3 track, clearly it was Dom Um Romao, and it sounded like it was from the session, I loved it, so I happily kept it, cherished it, and lo / behold, come to find out the mystery track is "After Sunrise", and only availible on the mispress 1974 Muse original (listen to the drums, bass, harpsichord, funky Latin Jazz Fusion at some of it's finest!)
It's an all-star lineup for Dom Um Romao's US debut lp, Sivuca, Mauricio Smith (sax/flute player, killer 1966 release "Bitter Acid"), Joe Beck on electric guitar, Lloyd McNeil (spiritual jazz flautist), Joao Donato, Dom Salvador, Stanley Clark, Miles Davis alum Eric Gravatt on Congas, Stanley Clarke on bass, Richard Kimball on synthesizers (I remember thinking from that movie the fugitive, him calling out as Harrison Ford "It's the One-Armed man!), Amauri Tristao, Portinho on percussion, I mean this is a lineup and then some!
I will say, if Dom's Tune had made it instead of "Braun-Blek-Blu" a second time, this would be the grail of grails, because in my humble opinion, as much as I know Dom's Tune is one to miss (the consolation of After Sunrise I think makes it whole), but Cinnamon Flower seemed the weakest track (Braun-Blek-Blu is a dope percussion Latin Jazz tune, I just didn't need it repeated twice!), whereas Family Talk, Ponteio, and Adeus Maria Fulo remain intact, and any one of those would have been too grave a loss.
I've said enough! Just remember, the tracklist is incorrect on labels, and cover, I'll include a written / typed correct track list with it, a bonus "Alec" insert ;)
Gorgeous OG copy, (virtually) minty fresh, one of the best on the label, back then, and now :)



*Tariffs aren't going to impact used vinyl records / music media, we wish they were never in place at all, so for international buyers, don't worry on that account!
For our record grading, we stand by the merits outlined in the scale below, anything VG or below will have a detailed explanation in brackets next to the grade.
For sleeves, we will mention anytime there is split, or defect not visible in the photos in brackets next to the grade, otherwise we refer to the photos for the merit of the grade. Of course any questions, concerns, are always welcome :) 
Our media grading scale is as follows: [*Quick note, our VPI is still in storage on the other side of the US, we do brush clean many  items carefully, but we have to prioritize, we won't leave anyone stranded with a filthy record, only "filthy" good! We don't factor dust particles into the grading]
NM = Essentially a pristine album, like new, rarely used.
EX = Under bright light if there is any scuffs or mark, which will be inaudible, most collectors and sellers would tend to consider it closer to NM, EX is also the grade others might call VG++ under the same level of conservative scrutiny.
VG+ = More then a small handful of scuffs, light marks, nothing feelable, will have high-gloss, a thoroughly enjoyable copy that may only have tiny moments of barely perceptible surface noise overpowered by the music. Our VG+ will satisfy the vast majority of collectors as a nice keeper copy, as collector's ourselves for nearly two decades, this grade is aimed to be a great keeper. Note if say the record has a light DNAP warp, but otherwise is NM, we will automatically put it to VG+ and detail that. Another scenario is if a copy plays at a solid EX, but visually is VG, the composite grade will be VG+, and detailed as such.
VG = More hairlines, more marks, maybe a few visible scratches, no more then two feelable scratches (which automatically lowers to VG-), there likely will be surface noise, but will play through, still being an enjoyable copy, the audio quality will satisfy most collector's (the golden rule: if it doesn't satisfy us, it won't be VG), if a record is otherwise EX, but has a slight momentary skip, where 99% of the record is EX, we will note that, and put it at VG. Usually will retain a nice gloss.
VG- = More Scratches than VG, surface noise will jump out more, it be overpowered for longer stretches, or compete with the music in places, it will likely play all the way through on most turntables, a copy that you can still get a decent play enjoyment from.
G+ = Lots of scratches, deeper ones, surface noise now mostly overpowers or competes with the music. It may skip in some places. We don't tend to sell G+ copies, unless the rarity is so great, and that will be precisely detailed.
Thrashed = Pretty much a "Theoretical Grade" for us, it be for all intents & purposes virtually unplayable, it would be for display purposes, or perhaps if you needed the cover but not the record. It's "theoretical" because so far we haven't sold or identified anything intended to sell at this bottom level.

We have it set to 5 day shipping / handling time, as a just in case, typically about 98.7% of our orders are shipped out the day of payment (first day the post office is open), with the vast majority being the second day. We'll message on the extraordinary off-chance if doesn't go out on Tuesday (our auctions mostly ending on Saturdays, Sundays), with the reason and day it will go out, so far that's only happened once on a giant order, and all was well.
