Rara edizione appartenente alla serie “Canzone Best Star Album”, con inserto a colori glossy di 8 pagine contenente una descrizione in giapponese dei titoli della serie, note discografiche e informazioni sulle principali manifestazioni musicali in Italia e con ulteriore inserto di 2 pagine con i testi in italiano, giapponese. Larga OBI a colori a sfondo rosso e verde, riportante il prezzo di 1.500 Yen.

Domenico Modugno (Polignano a Mare, 9 gennaio 1928 – Lampedusa, 6 agosto 1994) è stato un cantautore, chitarrista, attore e regista italiano. Fu anche deputato e dirigente del Partito Radicale. È considerato il padre dei cantautori italiani e uno dei più prolifici artisti in generale, avendo scritto e inciso circa 230 canzoni, interpretato 38 film per il cinema e 7 per la televisione, recitato in 13 spettacoli teatrali, condotto alcuni programmi televisivi, ed essendo apparso numerose volte, sia in televisione che dal vivo, davanti alle platee. È molto noto al grande pubblico per le sue quattro vittorie al Festival di Sanremo, in particolar modo per quella del 1958 con la canzone Nel blu dipinto di blu, scritta con Franco Migliacci e universalmente nota come Volare, destinata a diventare una delle più conosciute canzoni italiane nel mondo. E così un trentenne pugliese, che fino ad allora aveva avuto un modesto successo in Italia come cantante ed attore, diventa, con la vittoria al Festival di Sanremo, il più noto cantante italiano nel mondo, e la sua Nel blu dipinto di blu diventa la canzone italiana più conosciuta dopo 'O sole mio, unico disco nella storia della musica italiana ad arrivare al primo posto (ed a restarci per ben tredici settimane) nell'hit parade americana, record tuttora ineguagliato per una canzone italiana[1], tanto che L'espresso nell'agosto del 1958 può così scrivere nei titoli in copertina: Modugno ha conquistato l'America, ed a fine anno i dati di vendita sono esaltanti, battendo ogni record per un disco italiano fino a quel momento: ben 800.000 copie in Italia e oltre 22 milioni nel mondo. Secondo i dati della SiaeNel blu dipinto di blu è stata la canzone italiana più eseguita al mondo dal 1958 ad oggi, ed ha avuto innumerevoli versioni in moltissime lingue. Oggi come allora è considerato uno dei padri del cantautorato italiano[5] (è stato il primo che si è affermato nel dopoguerra, essendo Odoardo Spadaro e Armando Gill di epoca precedente), e come autore e interprete è tra i più grandi d'Europa, uno dei pochi europei a vincere nello stesso anno (il 1958) tre Premi Grammy (fu inoltre per molti anni l'unico italiano ad aver vinto): uno come disco dell'anno, uno come canzone dell'anno ed uno come miglior interprete del 1958.

Canzone Best Star è una raccolta dei suoi maggiori successi, pubblicata nel 1975 esclusivamente per il mercato giapponese.

Domenico Modugno (Polignano a Mare, January 9, 1928 - Lampedusa, August 6, 1994) was a songwriter, guitarist, actor and Italian. It was also a member and leader of the Radical Party. It is considered the father of Italian singers and one of the most prolific artists in general, having written and recorded about 230 songs, played 38 feature films and seven for television, starred in 13 plays, led some television programs, and having appeared numerous times, both on television and live, in front of audiences.
