Caprice - Riks LP 44+50 (-73) Sweden
Records: G+ (Play G+ to VG)
Cover: VG
Insert which is EX.
Records: Have wear and small marks all over.
A-side plays with some clicks, pops and ticks and has a scratch covering half the side, giving many pops.
B-side has many medium ticks and a few pops.
C-side plays VG to VG+ with just a little occasional surface noise.
D-side plays VG to VG+ with minimal surface noise and a few clicks and pops.
Apart from these clicks, ticks and pops there is just a little crackle on A- and B-sides and nearly no audible surface noise on sides C and D.
Still the A-side has surely some 50 loud clicks so this is good to be aware of.
The record was returned by a buyer who experienced a few skips. If you use very light needle pressure or a bad stylus this might be the case. I have played through all sides twice now with medium and light pressure and have found no skips.
Still the pops on side A drags the over all grading down to G+ in my opinion.
Cover: Has a few spots of ink damage on front and a small stamp inside of the gatefold.
The whole record is a weird trip with a mix of jazz, improvisation and world music. Rare and sought after and you’ll never get it this cheap again.
I grade my records visually in strong light and listen if uncertain. I am very keen on everybody being happy about the deal so I am very strict in grading both records and covers.
I have seen many strange gradings around. Some professional dealers even call it NM- what I consider to be VG. Here are in short my definitions.
Mint = Sealed
NM = No marks, no noise.
EX = A few light marks, no noise except maybe occasional barely audible groove dust crackle.
VG+ = Some light marks, a little light background crackling accepted.
VG = Light marks here and there, no scratches. Obvious crackling but not disturbing.
G+ = Worn with marks over all, maybe scratches giving ticks and clicks, no skips, still enjoyable as crackling is mostly behind the music.
G = Worn with scratches and marks, clicks and pops, no skips, enjoyable as reference.
F = Worn with a few skips and heavy crackling.
Records looking for instance VG+ but playing EX will be graded VG+
Records looking EX but playing VG+ will be graded VG+
Records playing EX apart from a spot with a few pops will be graded VG
