.
BETHLEHEM Records BCP 12
Original 1955 issue • Mono LP
VERY RARE COVER
FIRST PRESSING (1A/1B)
VINYL is VG+
Very thick non-flexible, gleaming gloss vinyl has several very light hairlines and a few surface scratches. Plays VERY clean, with tic at start of track 4, side 1; otherwise superb throughout. Deep Groove 1st issue Silver Print on Maroon "LAUREL" Bethlehem labels are extremely clean both sides.
COVER is NM
Laminated cover is very close to new, with no wear, creases, writing or soil. Small spot of wear on bottom seam. Top seam and spine are 100% intact with no wear or splits.
FIRST PRESSING
MATRIX NUMBERS
SIDE 1 XTV22896-1A
SIDE 2 XTV22897-1B
VERY RARE COVER!
The text "A MOST UNUSUAL JAZZ INSTRUMENT",
+ "STANDARDS IN A MOST UNUSUAL WAY" + the
SONG TITLES are overprinted (above the lamination)
in red.
I've never seen another like this one!
Not in real life or in photos (and I've researched quite a bit online), so not sure if it was a prototype or a demo - or?
This added text is slightly raised and just barely transparent enough that the darker parts of the artwork drop the red shade a bit darker where it passes over. It appears to be done in a LITHO SCREENPRINT, so they must have made at least a small number of them at the time.
Very cool for any MELLOPHONE player or enthusiast...

Please be aware that these important supplies add to my shipping costs - of which only a very small fraction is covered in the shipping charge.
My LP packing is considered to be among the very best on eBay. I would have it no other way.
