Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
A super rare original 1968 stereo copy of Don Rendell Ian Carr Quintet - Phase 111. Released on the Columbia Lansdowne Series no. SCX 6214, Side 2 bears a FACTORY SAMPLE - NOT FOR SALE sticker to the label ( see photos).
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl has an excellent glossy lustre with one faint hairline on Side 1, Side 2 has a couple of scuffs but nothing remotely feelable. Graded VG+ but plays close to EX.
Playtest reveals a pure and vibrant sound with detail and depth. Some low noise/crackle audible in parts, mainly between tracks, but otherwise this plays through beautifully with no jumping, sticking or other issues.
The outer sleeve is solid with light ringwear visible, shelf wear & corner rubbing, but no splits. Good legible spine. Some staining to the rear ( see photos). No writing or tape.
The original EMI printed paper inner sleeve is present, however, we have decanted the record into a brand new poly lined inner sleeve to keep it pristine - you will receive both.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
A rare opportunity for a collector to own a copy of this wonderful album.
