Description

Donald Byrd     Byrd's Eye View    Transition JLP 4   mono with booklet and ad strip  NOT A REISSUE

Donald Byrd, Joe Gordon (t),  Hank Mobley (ts), Horace Silver (p), Doug Watkins (b), Art Blakey (d)    Recorded 1955

It's an original pressing Transition jazz record. That should be enough.  No need for hyperbole and talk about "Holy Grail" or "Mega Rare" "Insanely Rare" etc etc.  The record has the standard Transition label and both of them are present and on the record which is not all that common for Transitions.  "RVG" is in the runout on Side A and the record is "Flat Edge".  The cover has no printing on spine and is "Frame" style.   The original booklet is included. The ad strip which was inserted under the shrink and sold with the record is included.

Record looks VG++ and plays very nicely at VG++.  This is a very nice copy and you won't be looking for an upgrade.  There's some very light scuffs.   No scratches. No spindle marks. Record look bright and glossy and grooves do not show wear, graying or spreading.  Record looks like it has only been played a few times.

Cover is VG+, close to VG++.

Front cover is bright and glossy has light wear and looks very nice. The top seam is split 1 and 1/2 inches at the pocket and is untaped. The spine is split app 8 inches starting at the top and is untaped.  The split is a tight one and not very noticeable.  Small spots of heavy wear on the corners. The blank back cover has light wear.  The booklet is M- condition.  It is complete, no dog eared or torn pages.  Other than some fading and a very tiny crinkle at the bottom of the cover, it's like new.  The ad strip has a fold in the middle and some glue residue at each side.

My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
