Donizetti Lucia Di Lammermoor Callas Aust Columbia SAXO 2316/7
Maria Callas, Margaret Elkins, Ferrucio Taliavini and others with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by Tullio Serafin perform the opera “Lucia di Lammeroor” by Donizetti. A two record set, this is an Australian stereo pressing on the Columbia Label (SAXO 2316 /2317 ), the labels are blue with silver “radio waves” and border, and black stereophonic flash and this is a pancake pressing. Sides one and two labels have a “sample record” sticker. The record has a grayish marks at the start of side two (possibly glue???) that makes a loud noise and once the music begins, is intrusive in decreasing amounts for approx six revolutions. Otherwise the records are of very good appearance and play and sound superb with some low-level surface noise. The box has some minor wear to the edges and corners and is otherwise in very good condition.
