Description

Here is an EX/EX copy of this (at the time) rarely recorded and rarely performed (in full) opera by Donizetti. John Pritchard wields the baton and conducts the orchestra and chorus of L'Accademia Di Santa Cecilia.

This was something of an historic recording according to the detailed notes in the libretto. There was difficulty for the performers, and issues with the published score that had the opera only ever partially performed. Interesting story.

In addition to Joan Sutherland, the soloists include: Renato Cioni (Edgardo); Robert Merrill (Enrico); Kenneth MacDonald (Arturo); Cesare Siepi (Raimondo); Ana Raquel Satre (Alisa); and Rinaldo Pelizzoni (Normanno).
