This rare 2-sided, 12" acetate is of an unknown session c.1969/70 by Donovan & cut at The Beatles' Apple Studios in Savile Row London. The acetate contains 12 tracks performed by Donovan accompanied by his own acoustic guitar with occasional double-tracked guitar & vocals. The typed Apple Custom labels show the song titles & are marked side 'Five' & 'Six'. Unfortunately I do not have knowledge about the previous four sides.

Below is a detailed description of each song, with approximate timings after each title.

If you would like any information about any particular song, please contact me.

N.B. This acetate is sold without copyright. No copies will be made available of any song before or after the auction, so please do not ask. Thank you.

Side 'Five'

1. 'Rosie' (2.32)
Complete song beginning with Donovan saying: 'Rosie, or after Santa Monica by Noel'. Single channel acoustic guitar & vocal live performance ended by Donovan saying 'You can write that down as Rosie.....just Rosie OK'.

2.'The Girl Who Used To Live Here' (3.02)
Complete song beginning with spoken title, leading into guitar & vocal - occaisionally double-tracked. Ends with spoken: 'Run back on that once, 'cause I had something on there'.

3. 'Honeymouth' (1.51)
Incomplete extract of the song with double-tracked vocal & guitar. Faded.

4. 'Lord Of The Universe' (3.20)
Complete song with guitar, tambourine & occaisionally double-tracked vocal. A 'blues' feel song with heavy reverb. Faded.

5. 'Marjorie, Marjorine' (3.19)
Complete song, beginning with spoken intro: 'Straight from the fridge'. Nice sounding vocal & guitar performance, occaisionally double- tracked.

6. 'Mighty Mouse' (3.13)
Complete song featuring guitar & double-tracked vocal.

7. 'Walkin' - (4.42)
Complete 'shuffle-beat' song with single tracked vocal, guitar, bass, drums & piano. Begins with spoken count-in.

8. 'Sweet, Sweet Beverly' (3.32)
Begins with engineer saying 'Lucky 13'. The tape faulters & stops after 36 seconds, then is restarted from the beginning with the same 'Lucky 13' quote. Complete song featuring vocal, acoustic & electric guitar, bass & drums. Faded.

Side 'Six'

1. 'Lonely Dismal' (2.36)
Complete song featuring vocal & unknown male backing vocals (possibly Paul McCartney?) with electric guitar, drums & bass.

2. 'Cadillac Cowboy' (8.00)
This track begins with a quick, loose version of 'Season of the Witch' followed by a complete song in a similar style & riff, with vocal, guitar bass & drums. Fades.

3. 'European Dreams' (6.40)
Begins in the middle of the 1st line, stops & then restarts at the beginning of the song. Single tracked guitar & vocal solo performance. There is a pause around the 4.40 mark where Donovan stops playing and exclaims: 'I always forget this f*****g verse in this song', before continuing until the end.

4.'Dear David (A Letter)' (6.32)
It is clear from the lyrics that 'David' is David Crosby. The song featuring solo vocal & guitar complete song beginning with a spoken: 'I think that's alright'.
