Donovan “Barabajagal"
Bell Sound Studio Acetate - 1969
This is a one-sided 45 RPM acetate from the Bell Sound Studio in New York City in 1969 for Epic Records. “Barabajagal", written by British singer/songwriter Donovan, was recorded in May of 1969 and subsequently became the title track of an album that year.
The instrumental backing was provided by the Jeff Beck Group, with backing vocals by Lesley Duncan, Suzi Quatro and Madeline Bell.
The acetate looks and plays in Mint Minus condition (M-) with no hiss, popping, or ticks and no skips. The artist and song title are typed on the generic Bell Sound label. In pencil LI-19 3:18 are written on the left side.
Provenance: This copy was in the collection of Rhode Island and Massachusetts disc jockey and program director Ken Rapoza who was active from the mid-1960s until his death in a 1987 motorcycle crash.
The record was inherited by a friend and fellow collector in Massachusetts and remained in his archive until his death in 2024.
