Description

Doo Wop - R&B Vocal Group Harmony 45

by the EL DORADOS

Record Label: VEE JAY

Record # 263

Titles: 3 REASONS WHY b/w BOOM DIDDLE BOOM

Condition: NEW - STORE STOCK - HAS NEVER BEEN PLAYED

This great record was originally issued on the Vee Jay label in 1958 and today a first pressing of it on Vee Jay will cost you anywhere from $300 to $1000 if you are lucky enough to find someone willing to sell you a Mint copy. Since that is not too likely to occur, why not place a bid or two on this old Repro / Reissue / Collector’s Pressing that I have here on eBay for auction? It will sell for a fraction of the cost of that first pressing and you will have some money left over for that late Summer vacation you have been thinking about.

The El Dorados are one of Doo Wop’s classic groups who are well known to all for their many great vintage recordings on the Vee Jay Label. This one is no exception to the rule though it is slightly more obscure and thus more rare, than most of their other records. But like so many other records of the time, its one that you really must hear to appreciate. And since you know what the El Dorados are capable of, I really don’t have to say much more.

Members of the El Dorados were:

Pickle Lee Moses, Jr. - Lead

John McCall - First Tenor

Douglas Brown - Second Tenor

Teddy Long - Secomd Tenor/Baritone

Johnny Carter - Bass

NOTE: If you were a member of any vocal group who recorded 50's style group harmony (Doo Wop) records in the 50's or early 60‘s, or if you are related to or know or knew any one who sang with such a group, please contact us (Use eBay's "Ask Seller a Question" or "Contact Seller" option) as we would like to help document the membership of as many vocal groups as possible.

==================
This record was pressed in very limited quantities a number of years ago solely for the relatively small Doo Wop collector's Market. Pressings generally did not exceed 500 copies and sometimes were even smaller. With the passing of time (often 38-39 years), the growth in the number of collectors, and the declining number of records available, the value of these records has grown significantly due to the laws of supply and demand. Today, these "reissues" (which were originally intended to make available on a more widespread basis, rare first pressings that had become impossible to find collectors' items) have become very hard to find collectors' items themselves. This may be your last chance to obtain this record at a reasonable price, or at any price at all. As stated above, these records are brand new, dealer or store stock, and have never been played. Sometimes fidelity of recordings may not be up to year 2010 standards, because, it must be remembered, many of these recordings were produced 50-60 years ago, and may have been reproduced from Masters that were not always in pristine condition. Some of the original masters for the original records themselves were produced on what today some might call primitive equipment, in "studios" that could have included a basement, or garage, as well as a professional studio. But, for the true collector that all adds to the magic and honesty of these recordings. In a small number of instances, they may have even been recorded with some surface noise, even though records are brand new. This affects a very limited number of records, and is an accepted part of some of these old recordings. All records are New Dealer or Store Stock and have Never Been played, therefore I cannot tell you anything about surface noise (in the few cases where it exists) or about reversed labels (in the very, very few cases where that occurs.)

===========================
Note that if a scan of the item appears in this auction, colors may be slightly off due to the scanning process. In rare instances, there may be a dark blue tint on the scan of the vinyl, and/or white colors may appear yellowed or have a blue tint. For some reason, silver print on a blue background yields a scan that is almost unreadable, but again this only occurs with silver print on a dark blue background such as those on the King or Jubilee labels. In no case is the scan as good as the actual product. Do not use the scan to determine if record is pressed on colored vinyl or if label color is in question. Instead, read the auction description: all records pressed on colored vinyl will be so noted, in the auction description captioned "Condition." In some cases, where we don't have a scan of the actual record on auction, we may substitute another similar looking record, on the same label, only to give you an idea of what the record on auction looks like (e.g., label design, colors.) If you have any questions about the appearance of a record, please ask before bidding.
