ORIGINAL PRESSING MARKERS
- Original 1956 Transition Records pressing (Cambridge, MA) - Black labels with yellow Transition logo - Hand-etched matrix: TRLP 20A / TRLP 20B - Original textured maroon leatherette paste-on jacket - BOTH ORIGINAL LABELS PRESENT - notable, as Transition label glue commonly failed and many surviving copies have lost one or both labels entirely. The trlp 20B label (Return to Paradise side) is lifting at one edge but remains attached; the trlp 20A label is secure. See photos. - Note: the labels are transposed relative to the deadwax etchings (the label marked trlp 20B sits on the side etched TRLP 20A, and vice versa) - a period factory quirk, disclosed for accuracy - No booklet included

THE MUSIC
Doug Watkins' only album as a leader for Transition, recorded December 1956 with a stacked lineup: Hank Mobley (tenor), Donald Byrd (trumpet), Kenny Burrell (guitar), Duke Jordan (piano), and Arthur Taylor (drums). Transition folded soon after, making all original pressings from this label short-run and scarce. A hard bop session that connects the Detroit and New York scenes at their mid-fifties peak.

CONDITION
VINYL - Very Good (VG), visual grade: - Glossy surfaces with scattered light hairlines and paper scuffs visible under strong raking light - Light spindle-area marks around both labels - trlp 20B side label lifting at one edge, still attached (a known Transition trait - the factory glue commonly failed on this label) - Graded visually; not play-tested by us - Prior owner described this as a clean playing copy - offered as provenance, not our assessment
JACKET - Good Plus (G+): - Front panel presents well with strong color - Seam splits along multiple edges, including full-length splitting - Spine and edge wear with fraying and chipping to the leatherette - Tape pull marks and adhesive residue on rear panel - Corner wear consistent with age
