Between 1968 and 1978, a Memphis, Tennessee-based label called Designer Records label issued 400-500 singles and quite a few albums. One of them was Nuclear Blast, an album of raw electric gospel soul by Reverend Douglas Bell and the Stage Cruisers.

This is first original copy that has surfaced so far. I have been watching eBay and searching the internet for many years; I never anything until I found the announcement the reissue was coming. This is likely to be the only original vinyl copy you will ever see of this record; an ultimate newly discovered Holy Grail.

This is the original private release from the late 1970s - not the brand new 2010 reissue. I have owned this LP many, many, many years. This LP was never issued in a “real” cover; only the new reissue has a customized cover with an old stock photo of the group on front.

Raw and rumbling gospel sounds from the Designer Records vaults - real and resonant southern black gospel from Reverend Douglas Bell & The Stage Cruisers! Heavy vocals with swirling organ and wailing keyboards along with the impassioned vocals. The material is well produced, with bluesy, gritty immediacy. One really good LP: NUCLEAR BLAST!  Reverend Douglas Bell and his Stage Cruisers. It is excellent from start to finish. The recording is very primitive with crunchy drums and a somewhat funky out of sync chorus. The keyboard player at times uses an effect that gives him some cosmic output that sends the Reverend on an entertaining improv spree. With a title like Nuclear Blast! I had to have it. All of the songs were written by the Reverend Bell and his entire family pitches in on vocals on these recordings. If you are a fan of amateur recordings you will love this record. There is no mixing, mastering or editing - Just a kickin’ good time in the name of the Lord.  (oldtimecrossroads.wordpress.com)

All records will be shipped in strong cardboard record mailers. They will be placed in poly sleeves between cardboard flats and/or bubble wrap to increase stability and for safe travel. The records will always be removed from the covers to prevent seam splits, unless the LP is still sealed.

Return Policy:

Items must be returned in the same condition as received and with all original packing and packaging materials.  All sealed items must be returned unopened.

We must be notified of any problems ASAP or within a maximum of 14 days of receipt and items are to be returned in a timely manner.
