Description
Thank you for (hopefully again) visiting the Vault_Obscura vault of too-cool vintage stuff. We offer quality items only to quality homes and require appropriate references from all prospective buyers; however, ownership of three or more Chet Baker albums on any label or just one Miles on Prestige will be considered acceptable.
***PLEASE NOTE*** In the course of playing some recent acquisitions I did not notice that two Blue Note Records got switched in their jackets being this one and one by The 3 Sounds. The initial auction listing described the cover for this one and the record for the other, that has been revised to The 3 Sounds album. The vinyl for the Blue Mitchell is nicer than originally thought so this might not be such bad news to anyone.
As such I am re-offering this album however the buy-it-now price has been removed in fairness to all prospective bidders, since there were some number of watchers on the initial listing. Since the premium condition vinyl might appeal even more to many, the auction is extended until Sunday to give everyone time.
For auction with no reserve, one copy Down With It! by The Blue Mitchell Quintet. LP record album, Blue Note ST-84214, stereo. First pressing with Blue Note USA on label and 43 West 61st Street address on back cover.
I have played this album on a sensitive NuMark turntable with some impressive cartridge or other and it sounds very clean. Vinyl is Near Mint minus and I suspect might have been played no more than two or three times including by myself. Jacket excellent also with just a touch of wear, and comes with original Blue Note inner sleeve.
Tracks: Hi-Heel Sneakers, Perception, Alone Alone And Alone, March On Selma, One Shirt, Samba De Stacy.
All records are guaranteed authentic and no bootlegs/counterfeits will ever be offered. Records are cleaned if necessary but no waxing or polishing agents are used. Any photos loaded here are the actual record you will receive; they are the best I could do.
Why should you choose this copy over others? Old and valuable items like coins, comic books or cards never turn up cheaply at yard sales or similar, but records do, and many of them end up in the hands of dealers who cannot grade them correctly. Grade scales which omit the Very Fine level tend to be inexact, in which event the same one or two grades get assigned to all records offered and it doesn't tell you much about any one of them. The record offered in this listing has been looked at very closely and graded very strictly, and in general anything from the sixties back listed as Very Fine or better will be as nice a copy as you will expect to find, and equivalent to what many others sell as "Excellent" or "Near Mint".
Grading of records: Most lower value records are graded by sight only and the surface noise description below is an approximation. Almost all older records play with some surface noise regardless of appearance. Grades may be qualified by a single plus (+) or minus (+).
Near Mint: Looks brand new.
Very Fine: Still close to new and only slightly used, a few faint marks or sleeve scratches.
Very Good: May have a number of light scratches but still nothing bad. Moderate surface static can generally be heard during the music.
Good: No awful scratches but will have a lot of them. Surface noise has overtaken the music but still plays thru OK.
Shipping/Handling:. See shipping section for current options, rates and handling time. USPS delivery times are not reliable and if you are not a patient person please do not buy anything.
Questions: Please include a current working direct email with any question. Items are not easily accessed and if it requires pulling one from stock I might not be able to get to it before the auction ends. Open-ended inquiries about details such as matrix number tend to be from users looking for a scarce variation. Don't ask me what I have, tell me what you will bid on.
International Buyers – Please Note:
-
Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility.
-
Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.
-
These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up – do not confuse them for additional shipping charges.
- Items can be detained for lengthy periods by customs authorities for no apparent reason.

Thanks to everyone showing interest and so to help make informed decisions here are some good quality scans of the cover for this album, you get top left and bottom right justified views of back and front which make 99% of the artwork and copy available for inspection.
If the photos below show sideways then just click one of them to go to the host site and see them correctly, I forgot to rotate them first and the server only refreshes every so often.
