Description
This auction is for a vinyl LP recording of Brahms’s Two Sonatas for Cello and Piano (No. 1 in E minor and No. 2 in F major), played by musical couple Daniel Barenboim and Jacqueline Du Pré, on His Master’s Voice label, in stereo, in 1968.
There is a bright, clear photo of the musicians taking up the whole of the front cover, and lots of text about the works on the back. The sleeve is in good condition - there is a little bit of wear along the opening edge and a narrow dark line along each of the stuck-down overlapping edges on the back where the laminate has not come right to the edge.
The record plays excellently, and the music is enjoyable, inventive and full of sparky little tunes – there’s even a hint of early jazz in some places! He’s brilliant on the piano, as always, and although she’s never been my favourite cellist, she’s great on this recording.

We will of course pack everything as carefully as we can in cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, newspaper, etc. You are welcome to collect if you prefer; if you're actually in the Lowestoft area we could deliver to you if you'll wait for the next available weekend.
