Certainly the rarest piece of Duane Eddy memorabilia I ever came across - no collection of the great man can be complete without it !
So what is this? The BBC Transcription Services ran for years and was a Britsh radio program known as "Top of the Pops, hosted by Bryan Matthews. This album was a compilation of recordings sourced from the BBC's own top-30, strictly between March 25th and April 1st 1975. Just one week! Duane Eddy had been far less active in the charts in the years leading up to "Play Me Like You Play Your Guitar" - this was a comeback of sorts for him, having reached number 11 that week. Images 3 & 5 are the accompanying 'cue sheets' to be found inside the album cover. This incidentally is the only cover the BBC ever offered.
Aside from the rarity of this disc so far as Duane Eddy is concerned (and I have never played it - it looks totally new to me - not a mark on either side) you will find here, other great 70's music by: The Bay City Rollers, The Rubettes, Elton John, Supertramp, The Sweet and the incomparable Shadows - plus a few more. Do check out that cue sheet.
I should add at this juncture that Duane Eddy incredibly, was always far more popular (and successful) in the UK than in his own country. In 1960 he was voted the most popular artist in Britain - eclipsing even Elvis Presley, who was at the peak of his career during that period.
If you really want this album (as I did in 2003) I wouldn't waste time "watching it."
