A truly seismic Bristol sound clash is served up on ‘Concrete Flowers’, a new collaborative production and single release from Dubkasm and Tricky. Adding further weight to the single, O$VMV$M and Kahn deliver two remixes to keep the release an all Bristol affair.
A heavy steppin’ production from Dubkasm and Tricky gets laced with Tricky’s inimitable vocal delivery and lyrical flair, taut strings and sparse melody build the tension in this potent single.
Two remixes are served up from fellow West Country allies: from Bristol’s Young Echo collective, O$VMV$M remould ‘Concrete Flowers’ into a near ambient experience, minimal percussion and deft use of delay FX allows Tricky’s vox to rise to the top with maximum impact. The lineage continues, with Kahn (regular collaborator with Neek from O$VMV$M) weighing in with a second version that extends and manipulates the original mix to over seven minutes of industrially charged, leftfield electronica.
