Description
We are thrilled and honoured to be offering for sale a number of items from the late Stan Tracey's own personal collection on behalf of his son Clark Tracey. This includes many extremely rare albums, some purchased by Stan during his time in New York, plus test pressings and other gems collected over his lifetime as a musician and composer.
Original 1963 Mono 1st repress of Duke Ellington Meets Coleman Hawkins on the Impulse large 4 pillar label, no A-26. VAN GELDER and LW is stamped in run out grooves ( see photos).
Degritter cleaned, the vinyl has retained an excellent gloss with some trace hairlines and light scuffs but nothing remotely feelable. The heavyweight disc sits flat on the turntable with clean labels and spindle holes - graded VG+ but plays EX.
Playback reveals a dynamic, detailed and engaging sound with immediacy and huge presence. The vinyl plays through beautifully with no jumping or sticking.
The rigid gatefold sleeve is clean, sturdy & robust with light wear to edges & mild corner rubbing. Good crisp readable spine. No writing, stains,splits, tears or tape.
The original printed ABC- PARAMOUNT inner sleeve is present, we have decanted the record into a new poly lined inner sleeve to keep it pristine after cleaning - you will receive both.
The record will be sent separated out in an archival outer sleeve to prevent transit splits.
