Description
Original 10" 78 RPM on the Vocalion label (#1086), featuring two early sides by Duke Ellington and His Kentucky Club Orchestra:
"Song of the Cotton Field" (Fox Trot) – Grainger
"New Orleans Low-Down" (Fox Trot) – Ellington
Condition: VG- with surface marks. Play-tested on vintage equipment – 1 little dig on side A but plays through, light pops present, overall strong audio fidelity.
Why it's rare: This release features Duke Ellington under one of his earliest band names, The Kentucky Club Orchestra, used during the mid-1920s before he achieved national fame. Pressed by the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Company, this Vocalion issue predates his work with major labels and captures a formative period in jazz recording history. Early Ellington 78s from this era are increasingly scarce and prized by collectors.
