Dusko Goykovich (or Gojkovic) is a great Serbian jazz trumpeter. Born in 1931, he studied at the Belgrade Music Academy and at age 18 joined the Big Band of Radio belgrade. Later he moved to West Germany and played with legends such as Chet Baker and Stan Getz. In the early 1960s he studied composition and arrangements at Berklee School of Music in Boston, and after completing the studies he joined the Maynard Ferguson band. After returning to Europe, he has led many combos and several big bands, solidifying his international reputation.
Ten To Two Blues was originally recorded in Barcelona in 1971 for a Spanish label called Ensayo, featuring the great Spanish pianist Tete Montoliu. Soon afterwards the larger and more established German label Enja bought the tapes and rights, and released the album--after changing the order and the names of some of the tunes--as After Hours, which became a big hit.
Arguably this is one of the best records Goykovich has made in his long career. Strongly recommended!
