Description
This is the 1st UK stereo pressing from 1961 with -4E,-2E matrix numbers. It has wideband grooved ED1 labels with ‘original recording by…’ perimeter text and ‘made in England’ at the bottom. Gatefold ‘wallet’ sleeve with original Decca FFSS inner sleeve. It is one of a small number of collectable Decca WB LPs I have for sale.
CONDITION
I use the Record Collector grading categories and have play graded the vinyl on a Linn LP12. I have been using high end turntables for over 30 years. My records have been stored in a pet free, smoke free home.
Sleeve: Very Good The sleeve is in very good shape with no splits, tears, writing or stains. The top edge shows wear but the other edges, corners and spine are fine. The laminate is all intact but is beginning to lift in an area 1" by 3" in the bottom left corner of the front cover. There is some age related yellowing but it is still very presentable. The wallet flap inside the gatefold is undamaged.
The FFSS inner sleeve is creased but not torn or split. ‘BBF’ is hand written in circles in top corners on both sides of the inner but is hardly noticeable.
Vinyl: Excellent
There is very little spindle wear on the labels. The vinyl is visually excellent, shiny and unmarked. The record plays without significant flaws and has the powerful dynamic sound associated with the WBg Decca recordings. There are no sticks, clicks, skips or warps. Light surface noise is audible in softer passages but does not detract from the music.
POSTAGE AND PACKAGING
The record will be packed in a record mailer with stiffener and posted by Royal Mail Special Delivery. I remove all records from outer and printed inner sleeves before packing to avoid damage to covers during transit. All vinyl is dispatched in polythene sleeves.
I am not a dealer but have been buying records for over 40 years and have decided to let go of some in the interest of ‘downsizing’.
