A Note About “Symphony No. 5”

The front cover, spine and record labels identify the work as:

“Symphony No. 5 in E Minor, Op. 95 – From the New World.”

This is not an error or misprint.

Dvořák’s symphonies were numbered differently in earlier publications, and the New World Symphony was formerly known as Symphony No. 5. It is now conventionally identified as Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op. 95.

Speakers Corner faithfully reproduced the wording of the original Decca SXL 2289 release.
