On offer here, a rare, Still Factory Sealed, London Digital Stereo recording of the magnificent Dvorak Symphony No. 8 in G-Major, Op. 88. B-Side includes a majestic account of the composer's Scherzo capriccioso. These critically acclaimed performances feature the distinguished Christoph von Dohnanyi leading the Cleveland Orchestra (still arguably America's finest symphonic ensemble). The descendant of a German-Hungarian family of prior, great musical accomplishment--with several members who knew Dvorak personally, Christoph von Dohnanyi is the ideal guide to this composer's epic late orchestral works. Penguin Guide concurs, awarding Three Stars to this disk, marvelling at the ensemble's "freshness" in these symphonic war horses, the admirable tempi throughout, and finding the recording itself of "Demonstration quality." Album on offer here is U.S.-produced, RCA, Indianapolis, Reissue dating shortly after original London Digital Stereo release. Still Sealed Digital Stereo disk is presumed perfect.
