Nicht nur für Eagles-Fans wird dieses Album das Topereignis des Jahres 2007 sein. Immerhin dauerte es 28 Jahre, bis wir endlich wieder eine neue LP dieser Supergruppe aus Kalifornien auf den Plattenteller legen dürfen. Schon äußerlich lässt dieses Doppelalbum die Herzen höher schlagen, das strukturierte Klappcover (wirkt wie hochwertiges, dickes Büttenpapier) fasst sich richtig edel an. Doch das wichtigste: wir hören wieder den alten Eagles-Sound, wie wir ihn seit Jahrzehnten kennen. Richtig, „Long Road Out Of Eden“ ist herrlich altmodisch, mit wimmernden Orgeln und Country-Gitarren, mit Bläsern und sogar einem Orchester. Das ist zeitlos schön, schnörksellos und doch wirken die vier Jungs Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Glenn Frey und Timothy B. Schmit so frisch und unverbraucht, als wäre die Zeit in den 70er stehen geblieben! Feine Midtempo-Nummern, Balladen und auch mal rockige Stücke, The Eagles blieben sich selbst treu. Natürlich bietet das Album auch kleine Überraschungen, wie etwa „No More Walks In The Wood“ mit seinen mystischen, orientalischen Klängen oder dem funky „Fast Company“ mit seinen Bläsersets. Da erscheint der Fehler des Presswerks, die Label der beiden Platten vertauscht zu haben (Disc 1 ist eigentlich Disc 2 und umgekehrt!) recht unbedeutend.
