Earthquake Studio's debut LP came out self-released in 1993, its initially tiny quantities making it long unobtainable. Rome's Real Rock Records now undertake essential recovery work, spotlighting the pivotal innovations of the duo of TNT Roots and Winston Dread. The setup was minimal even by 1993 standards: Siel DK-80, Casio RZ-1 drum machine, and an Atari 1040 running Cubase, all processed through an eight-channel Dynamix mixer and caught on DAT. Dubplates from these sessions became fixtures of Aba Shanti-I and Iration Steppas' sets for years, but despite the rotational notoriety, Earthquake quietly ceased their joint operation around 2002. TNT Roots kept making music privately, selling CDRs on eBay and the Blood & Fire forum, rarely seen; and other than a recent Bokeh Versions revival of his works, this reissue is the definitive revenant moment for both artists as a duo.
