Description
This is a vinyl copy of the classic, 1970 Psychedelic/Progressive/Jazz (unclassifiable really !) Rock LP "SNAFU" by EAST OF EDEN. Features the mighty "Gum Arabic" as well as the wonderful "Leaping Beauties For Rudy". You might know the band best for their hit "Jig A Jig" (not on this album). This is a STEREO ORIGINAL British issue. On the highly collectable RED & WHITE DERAM label the more "Progressive" (for this read very low sales !) arm of DECCA; the cat.no. is SML 1050. Matrix nos. ZAL-9435.P-1W / ZAL-9436.P-1W indicating a very 1st PRESSING. Not only is this record quite RARE, it is also in overall EXCELLENT+ condition.

THIS DAFT POLICY IS BOUND TO FORCE SELLERS TO USE INFERIOR PACKAGING & CUT DOWN ON WEIGHT (NOT ME 'THOUGH)* SORRY, BUT I CAN'T AFFORD TO MAKE A LOSS ON EVERY LP SALE UNDER £5 !!!!!
The outer, single, laminated front & unlaminated back cover is in EXCELLENT condition overall. This one shows little sign of age-wear & everything is still well intact.
A small amount of rub wear at the top & bottom of the unlaminated rear & a general slight fading of the original jet black background, but no major edge rubbing (some minor corner rub) mean this part grades at EXCELLENT- only. True to the era (1968 to 1970) this cover has the "PEEPHOLE" in the top righthand corner to let the coloured Inner (Blue for STEREO & RED for MONO) show through as a small spot.
This cover is actually really good, especially for it's age (39 years).
The Front LAMINATED Black & White photo with Orange "EAST OF EDEN" is EXCELLENT with just the odd small crease in the laminate making it less than Pristine.
The spine is EXCELLENT+ ; perfectly, straight, flat & true with all Title Print easily readable, with no wear points, nicks, dings or creases taking the + off. The "pinched" ends of the spine are another indication of a very early issue.
The opening edge is EXCELLENT with no noticeable feathering & being clean, straight & flat.
The WHITE & RED DERAM record labels with BLACK print & WHITE logos are EXCELLENT. Just the odd wispy spindle mark on them prevents a higher grading.
The standard (for the time) BLUE edged STEREO Inner is also EXCELLENT.
The vinyl is in just as good (if not better) condition as the cover; I grade it as EXCELLENT+ with just a couple of minor surface marks (couple of hairlines) visible under artificial light. Looks Perfect in ordinary daylight. Test played today on my highly critical Linn Sondek LP12 ; Plays REALLY, REALLY WELL with just the odd crackle & some minor surface noise between tracks & in the quieter passages (I get this even with brand new vinyl).
