Description
Green label Aussie Parlophone MONO pressing of the Easybeats' classic first album "Easy" from back in 1965. The cover shows 'em live on stage, lead singer suffering from a slight digestive disorder, and that's exactly how they sound inside - rawer than ever, totally unpolished, twangy and full of teen abandon, like the punkiest suburban American garage bands of the mid-60s. Makes "Friday on My Mind" seem like "Tubular Bells" by comparison. "It's So Easy" is their mantra, classic twangy beat sounds like the mid-60s Beatles, while "She's So Fine" revs up the BPMs for a primal slice of speed freak blues with a bit of punk rockabilly, something the Reverend Horton Heat might like to add to his slowing repertoire. Best surprise here - and most appropriate title - "I'm A Madman", a rumbling sinister slab of pure evil, with a throbbing headache of a rhythm pounding behind a guitarist who sounds like he's had 2 pints of Fosters too many. Best of all, the singer actually BECOMES a madman mid-song. Why the Cramps never picked up on this one is a mystery - we know Lux was quite the 60's garage connoisseur. This is the sound of a talented band at their youngest and most unhinged. Fame would make 'em better songwriters, but they would never be this raw and exciting again. Or would they? This is the green label Parlophone second pressing from sometime around 1965 - mono, PMEO 9484. Like all these early Easybeats albums, it's seen its share of Aussie frat parties, and plays VG minus with a few skips, there's some marks on one side and the other looks fine, but it plays with a fair amount of surface noise. The cover looks great, with the photo unharmed, there's some edgewear and a very small tear on the back, I'd grade it VG++. Winning bidder pays $4.00 media mail shipping in the US, $8 air mail to Canada, $14 everywhere else. Paypal, Bidpay, cash, checks and money orders accepted.
