ED1, in other words first anywhere type pressing of LEE MORGAN self titled 2xLP BLUE NOTE BST 84901 US issue with Van Gelder in the run out grooves. The last Blue Note issued in his lifetime, and a cracker at that!. Features Billy Harper (who pens the killer whole side opener, Capra Black), Bobbie Humphrey, Jymie Merrett and Grachan Moncur III. Super close to the full near mint with very few light marks, and in a sleeve that is not clipped nor has ringwear, when it is the norm with these. Check out the signs of low wear revealed by those really clean labels with hardly a spindle mark in sight.That is because I bought it as new old stock 40 years ago, and have looked after it, storing it upright on correct shelving in a poly outer, and only ever playing it on a high end system. I have a broad and deep record collection, so it is unlikely I will have played this more than five or six times in all the decades at a guess. Still has the intact Blue Note discography inners. One of the most interesting variants of this actual set is that its Division of United Artists labels are deep grooved to 3 of the sides, and the 4th one is half deep grooved. The photo of the side 3 label shows this best. I know the more common false groove on lots of Blue notes, but this is the full one millimetre wide. The most important thing about this is the great condition of the records, but this is surely also worthy of note to collectors of unusual early Blue notes. Plays excellent to near mint throughout
