Description
EDDIE BOYD - " EDDIE BOYD AND HIS BLUES BAND ", The Decca Record Company Ltd. (LK 4872) Mono, 1967.
Extremely rare, UK very first pressing LP of the classic LP by Eddie Boyd on Decca.
This is one of a couple of blues LPs issued on Decca in '67, produced by Mike Vernon and featuring British musicians that served as a kind of a precursor to Vernon's own Blue Horizon label.
The "Blues Band" backing Boyd on this particular recording are; Peter Green, John McVie, Aynsley Dunbar, John Mayall and Tony McPhee!
The front laminated sleeve, matte finish red and silver label and matrix numbers ending in 1A and 1A mark this out as the very first pressing.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and put in a new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner has been retained for originality- see photo)
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No deep/proper scratches, groove damage, excessive surface noise, distortion, etc. Fairly clean labels with only the light spindle trails. A strong direct light reveals a few very faint paper scuffs and a couple of extremely faint superficial marks - as you would expect, these do not sound on playback. Plays very well indeed - strong, clear and without interruption from excessive clicks, crackles, etc... There's a minute amount of surface noise in the pressing during the silent run-in and in a couple of silences/quiet sections, but once the music starts, it disappears and it generally plays strong and clear without interuptions. Only had pretty light use in it's lifetime and has been well cared for. Not quite in museum piece territory, but still a great example or a rare original LP, ready play and enjoy as originally intended. Much much better than any inferior quality later pressing or a sterile CD reissue.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G.+ (No rips, no tears, no defacing, or heavy ring wear, seam splits, etc. But does suffer a few small creases in the laminate, some very light wear to the edges and corners and some slighty grubby areas - see photos for further clarification)
