Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! Here is a very rare and scarce copy of 7936 South Rhodes By Eddie Boyd Featureing Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac, released in the UK in 1968! What makes this so rare is not just the condition which is barely played and almost looks as unplayed, but for the fact that this is the earliest found in mono which are very hard to find like this. Most copies on offer are the later stereo pressings. The original monos sound absolutely fantastic with a real deep bassy feel not found on any other format available! The vinyl is near mint condition without and visable marks or scratches. Play tested two times, once using a dedicated mono cartridge on a top system and played at very loud volume. The audio is absolutely stunning and graded at near mint in my opinion. Don't take my word for it just listen to the recording of the actual vinyl listed for sale in the player below! Edward Riley Boyd known as Eddie Boyd (November 25, 1914 – July 13, 1994) was an American blues piano player, born on Stovall's Plantation near Clarksdale, Mississippi, United States

Boyd moved to the Beale Street district of Memphis, Tennessee in 1936 where he played piano and guitar with his group, the Dixie Rhythm Boys.

Boyd followed the great migration northward to the factories of Chicago, Illinois in 1941.

He wrote and recorded the hit songs "Five Long Years" (1952), "24 Hours" (1953), and the "Third Degree" (co-written by Willie Dixon, also 1953). Boyd toured Europe with Buddy Guy's band in 1965 as part of the American Folk Blues Festival.

He later toured and recorded with Fleetwood Mac and John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers.

Tired of the racial discrimination he experienced in the United States, he first moved to Belgium where he recorded with the Dutch band, Cuby and the Blizzards.

He settled in Helsinki, Finland in 1970, where he recorded ten blues records, the first being Praise to Helsinki (1970).

He married his wife, Leila, in 1977. Boyd died in 1994 in Helsinki, Finland, just a few months before Eric Clapton released the chart-topping blues album, From the Cradle that included Boyd's "Five Long Years" and "Third Degree".

The vinyl

Super thick and chunky type of vinyl only found on earliest pressings! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable!

On initial inspection this looks awesome still looks as good as the day it was purchased from new! I can hardly see a blemish on the playing surface, Still retains its original sheen from new! Only in strong light can possibly any (very few) light whispy surface marks possibly be seen, which would be sleeve removal  only, (To be honest I find it hard to see any at all), at least there are no needle or indeed any audio sounding marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track prior to listing, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge! The audio is rated at the very top on all frequencies! it is awesome! (no) distortion or any signs of any grooveware at all! I heard no loud clicks or pops and more importantly i heard no major background noise  so common on these early Blue Horizon pressings! This plays almost as perfect on my system! Audio grades as near mint! Audio Archive copy never need upgrade!

Please note I always add this disclaimer!Please allow for the odd isolated static   (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 49 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 49 year old system! THIS IS RATED AT THE VERY TOP! ON ALL FREQUENCIES!

Please note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 48 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle\ticks. A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!

You will be hard pressed to find a better sounding original, and in Mono!

Blue Horizon labels in superbe condition. Only angled to the light can I  barely see a whyspy  of spider traces only! This has barely ever been played at all, certainly no more than a handful of times only! Little if (no) spindle ware (the spindle hole is perfectly round)

The Record Sleeve

This is the original plain white poly lined sleeve (no) splits or tares just light yellowing/creasing with age only!

The Cover

This is the original EARLIEST 1ST PRESS Note un-laminated  E.J.Day & co Ltd  cover in superbe  condition!  (VERY RARE TO FIND) There are no splits or tares and no nasty names written. (NO) real nasty creases can be seen just small light crease at the front top left corner to note  (hardly worth to worry about in my opinion and not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion) Note: There is some edge scuffing/wear noted at the top edge and minor at the spine edge notice if looked for!  This is strong and straight, at first glance looks near perfect and this is the original, the most difficult to find earliest un-laminated! The rear is quite exceptional without the usual rubbing/ringwear  Absolutely superbe   Graded at least better than excellent in my opinion! Very very rare to find like this!
