Description
You are bidding on a Very hard to find original LP by Eddie Cochran released in November of 1957 on the Liberty label. Catalog # LRP 3061.
Record is in good condition, with minimal surface wear, and tracks all the way through.
Sleeve is in good condition with spilt along half of the top edge and a split along the middle third of the spine.
This recording has the distinction of being the only LP released by Eddie Cochran in his lifetime.
On the night of Saturday April 16, 1960, at about 11:50 p.m. while on tour in Britain, Cochran died in a traffic accident in a taxi (a Ford Consul, [reg. no. RBO 869], not as widely quoted a London Taxi) travelling through Chippenham, Wiltshire, on the A4. He was 21. The taxi crashed into a lamppost on Rowden Hill. There was no other car involved. A plaque erected there shows the actual spot. He was taken to St. Martin's Hospital, Bath, but died at 4:10 p.m. the following day. Songwriter Sharon Sheeley (Cochran's fiance) and singer Gene Vincent survived the crash. The taxi driver, George Martin, was convicted of dangerous driving, fined £50, disqualified from driving for 15 years and sent to prison for 6 months.
