Absolutely beautiful copy of the rare 1977 first pressing of the incredible Yazoo compilation of some of the the best recordings by the great Eddie Lang, appropriately called Jazz Guitar Virtuoso, on Yazoo 1059. This is the original pressing on thick vinyl with the red label, and it features a cover by the great cartoonist Robert Crumb! This was pressed in the early days of the Yazoo label, before they had a large enough following to warrant pressing lots of records, which happened for them later in the 80s. So most copies of this album are on the later label, with flimsier vinyl and a flimsier cover.
Lang was one of the first ever real jazz guitar virtuosos, and made some truly incredible recordings from about 1925 to his unexpected death in 1933. These are some of his greatest recordings, and they sound great on this comp. This copy is in just about perfectly mint shape inside and out. The disc is flawless and the cover is still in the original shrinkwrap and also nearly mint, with only a slightly dinged corner at the upper right. This is truly a top copy of this incredible collection. Impossible to beat.
