ARTIST / TITLE : EDDY LOUISS "S/T" a.k.a. "FLOMELA"
LABEL : BARCLAY (#920 128)
CONDITION (Record/Cover) : VG+/M-
COMMENT : Mega rare original pressing of the first lp recorded by the talented pianist Eddy Louiss as a leader, from 1968. This is a great french jazz album which is very rarely seen on sale, including so many lovely and eclectic tracks where Eddy plays Organ, Piano as well as Drums on a few titles. It has a big reputation for the delicious "Mazurka cacodou" a scat vocal Brazilian/Caribbean tune with club appeal, also for the killer cover of Herbie Hancock's "Cantaloupe's island" which is considered by the ones who got the luck to hear it like one of the best version ever made of this club jazz classic, the sublime & modal "Colchiques", a real must, and the Afro caribbean infuenced "Flomela"... But the all lp is exceptional from the percussive "African's moment" to the slow funky groove of "Les anges noires" where features the powerfull trumpet of Ivan Jullien (a.k.a. Big Jullien) who is also arranger here ; every tracks are played and arranged with a great great feeling!! This session has a very original and unique sound, interesting from the begining to the end, you can listen some samples of the tunes in the audioclip below. A true masterpiece which is near impossible to find.
The sleeve is in top archive condition. The vinyl is clean and shiny, it shows a few light surface marks, superficial scuffs, it plays excellent (as you can hear below).

VG+ = Record is really nice, may present a few visible marks which are slightly audible. Sleeve may present a few flaws like light openings, ringwear...
VG = Record has been played often, presents some visible and audible marks. Sleeve shows noticeable defects like heavy split seam, tears...
VG- = Record doesn't look nice because of general wear, it is in playable condition, but some/all tracks are noisy or click. Sleeve has noticeable general wear.
