AN UNUSUAL RECORD
8 1/2" ( 21 cm ) accoustic Pathé No 2827 saphir ( Hill & Dale )
Face A: Edouard Colonne conduct Brahms, Hungarian Dance No 5,with orchestra, matrice 8948, recorded 1907. Édouard Judas Colonne was a French conductor, born Bordeau July 23, 1838, died Paris March 28 1910. Founder of the Concerts Colonne in 1873, hi was in France an important person in music, like Arthur Nikkisch in Berlin.
Face B: Tom Waltham, piano solo, plays Phil Ohman, Try and play it, matrice 6989, recorded probably 1923. Tom Waltham was a British pianist and Phil Ohman ( October 7, 1896 - August 8, 1954 ) a American film composer and pianist. The title Try it and play it's a nice and well played ragtime.
Mysterious coupling ! And a rare record for both sides.
Grading:
1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used
1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes
3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible
3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
