Edwards Hand  ' Stranded ' - Very Rare Orange label RCA Victor 1st UK pressing - In 'Excellent' Condition !!!

Original 1970 1st pressing on robust vinyl - listed in most recent Hans Pokora's 5001 Record Collector Dreams !

Rod Edwards and Roger Hand formed this inventive, psychedelic/progressive pop outfit after briefly recording as Picadilly Line. Having worked with George Martin on their self-titled debut, Edward's Hand began recording at Morgan Studios in 1970, attempting to create a harder and more progressive sound than before. There where no nervous second album vibes here! The album is comprised of evocative and intelligent progressive pop songs immaculately produced featuring Edward's and Hand's distinctive harmonies to the fore. The second half of the album is effectively a concept of alienation and isolation, covered in the 7 minute title track and the 12 minute epic 'Death Of A Man.' which includes an incredible 'orchestra duelling-with-Moogs' mid section followed by a beautifully majestic and Beatles-like coda. Stranded marks its debut here on CD with the inclusion of the original artwork by Revolver cover artist and long term Beatle friend Klaus Voorman. The line drawing of a Southern Sheriff, ties in with the lyrics of 'Sheriff Myras Lincoln' -- a song about an American racist policeman -- and was subsequently banned and replaced with different artwork by RCA in the U.S. Clearly more confident and adventurous lyrically on this album, Edward's Hand also had more time with George Martin during the pre-production stages. This preparation time, an intelligent lyric writing team and George's complex yet concise orchestral arrangements give their second LP a much worldlier and unique feel. Guest musicians include James Litherland ( Colosseum / Mogul Thrash ), and legends John Wetton and Clem Cattini.

B. : I will not offer a formal grading of records, as I have had several experiences of sellers, either intentionally or unwittingly, grading records well above their actual status, i.e. 'excellent' - when there are numerous surface marks etc. Instead I will attempt to offer as comprehensive and honest description of each aspect of the item for sale as I can, with the explicit statement that you can always contact me for further details should my descriptors appear insufficient or unclear. Additionally, my returns terms allow for items to be sent back to me if they do not reflect my listings evaluation and descriptions !!!

Record Condition ; Excellent ! There is a single surface mark covering some of Tracks 3 and 4 of Side 2, which plays through well without any skips or jumps. Vinyl is nice and glossy and clean !!!

Label Condition ; Excellent !!! Clean and clear and in great condition (see photograph )

Sleeve Condition ; Plain sleeve in very good condition.

Cover Condition ;  Very good condition. Laminated cover with some mild creasing and some very very minor wear. The rear cover has some discolouration due to age and storage, but all seams are fully adhered and intact ! Spine is strong, clean and very clear ! ( see photograph )

Aural Evaluation ; Played through very well with clear strong sound and some crackle in quieter passages and between tracks ! No skips or jumps at all !!!
