EL REGO & SES COMMANDOS MADE IN NIGERIA-ALBARIKA STORE ASB 25-RELEASED IN 1969
THIS WAS ALBARIKA STORE´S FIRST HIT- ITS A COVER VERSION OF A TRACK NAMED "SUCK IT TO ME" BY THE SUPER EAGLES FROM GAMBIA. STUDENT FROM PORTO NOVO IN BENIN WERE GOING CRAZY FOR THAT SONG. ADISA SEIDOU FROM ALBARIKA STORE DECIDED TO IMPORT THE SINGLE FROM GHANA. AFTER A WHILE HE THOUGHT THAT IT MIGHT JUST BE EASIER TO RECORD HIS OWN VERSION. FOR THAT HE WOULD ASK "EL REGO" WHO IN HIS BAND "LES COMMANDOS" HAD A SINGER FROM ACCRA CALLED "EDDY BLACK POWER" WHO COULD DO THAT KIND OF STUFF. THE SINGLE WAS RECORDED AND CUT IN LAGOS.
MELOME CLEMENT FROM POLY-RYTHMO LOVED IT AND WANTED TO WRITE SOMETHING SIMILAR. THE BRASS SECTION LIGN GAVE HIM SOME IDEA FOR HIS GUITAR PARTS. THAT TUNE SPOOKED IN HIS HEAD FOR A WHILE, BUT HE STRUGGLE TO FIND A TEXT THAT COULD FIT, TILL HE BUMPED INTO A DEPRESSED FRIEND WHO USED TO WORK FOR THE FRENSH CULTURAL CENTER. THAT GUY WROTE A POEM CALLED "BIO GUERRA" WHICH WAS ABOUT A KING FROM BENIN WHO CRITICIZED THE FRENSH COLONIZERS AND ASKED THEM TO GO BACK HOME, AS WHAT THEY HAD BROUGHT TO HIS COUNTRY WASENT ANY GOOD.
HE WAS INVITED BY THE NATIONAL RADIO WERE HE TALKED ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR POEM AND EVENTUALLY GOT SACKED BY THE CULTURAL CENTER. HE HAD TWO WIFES AND THREE CHILDREN TO FEED SO DECIDED TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS BUT WAS TOLD : "THATS HOW LIFE IS SOMETIMES". THATS WHEN HE LOST IT. WHY THE HELL IS HE BLAMING LIFE FOR HUMAN BEINGS ACTIONS??? MELOME KNEW THAT WAS THE STORY HE WAS LOOKING FOR WHICH HE USED IN COMBINATION WITH HIS GUITAR LIGN WHICH AS I SAID HE GOT FROM "FEELING YOU GOT". THE RESULT "GBETI MADJRO" WAS THEN RECORDED FOR ALBARIKA STORE IN 1970. IT BECAME THE MOST SUCCESSFUL SONG IN BENIN´S MUSICAL HISTORY....HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE LITTLE STORY...........& FULL LENGTH SOUNFILE!!

GOLDMINE GRADING - MINT ---- It should appear to be perfect. No scuffs or scratches, blotches or stains, labels or writing, tears or splits. Mint means perfect.
- NEAR MINT ---- Otherwise mint but has one or two tiny inconsequential flaws that do not affect play. Covers should be close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident: slight ring-wear, minor denting to a corner, or writing on the cover should all be noted properly.
- VERY GOOD PLUS ---- The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a disc, there may be light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve or the vinyl or some of the original luster may be lost. A slight scratch that did not affect play would be acceptably VG+ for most collectors.
- VERY GOOD ---- Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise, but should not overwhelm the musical experience. Usually a cover is VG when one or two of these problems are evident: ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, etc.
- GOOD ---- Well played with little luster and significant surface noise. Despite defects, record should still play all the way through without skipping. Several cover flaws will be apparent, but should not obliterate the artwork.
- POOR ---- Any record or cover that does not qualify for the above "Good" grading should be seen as Poor. Several cover flaws.
All the records are cleaned with a professional Record cleaning machine.
