Description
Electric Ladyland - Thee first sleeve design before re jig- handful in the world. Inverted cat nos on labels. First Run- First week. All other editions feature smaller pictiures of Redding and Mitchell and other changes like white text....
Overall play test : Top music on full treble (well it is Hendrix...) = surface noise/scratches but no jumps on any side = G to VG Labels show use. Sleeve: G- VG
Reveals an earlier track order faintly beneath the withdrawn blue text. Spine frays etc, thumbed etc
Super R.A.R.E sells for £100s in all conditions
Matrix numbers Disc One Side A 61300 (Folllowed by something scratched out next to a handwritten '8') A//1 12 5 Side D 61300 (Followed by a scratch next to handwritten '8') B//1 12 1
Disc Two Side B 61300 (Followed by a handwritten 9A next to a scratched out stamped 'B)' //1 12 Side C 613009 B is handwritten next to a scratched out stamped '61300' a handwritten '8' and again a stamped A//1 1 12
It is clear that there had been some serious mistakes on the lacquers or stampers for this very first pressing of "Electric Ladyland'.
The labels feature the withdrawn upside down cat numbers (see pictures) with Disc One being (613008 A) on side A and (613008 B) 0n side...D! Disc Two side B is (613009 A) ! while side C is (613009 B) ! -
Finally I have noticed there are only separate bandings /tracks on sides B and D whereas for some reason (or mispressing) sides A and C are one continual band with no visible breaks or gaps to separate tracks.....weird.
On top of all these oddities the most serious mistake is side A is coupled with Side D leaving the second disc coupling Side B with side C??????
Overall a great find and in heavy hendrix demand.............

Hello,
To clear up the odd sides mystery I was kindly enlightened by the following (thanks Phil) Hello, The strange sides arrangement was ,believe it or not was to allow people to stack up the records on the old DANSETTE type record players and play all the album in its correct order with just one turn over of both albums at once.Though any records used on a record player like this will have been wrecked many years ago . All track copies were like this.price rating
