Influential hard rockers that were associated with Deep Purple
and featured a young Ronnie James Dio on vocals.
A heavy-rock outfit formed in 1970. Roger Glover (of Deep Purple) took to their mixture of hard-rock,
boogie and blues signing them to Purple Records. They also got to support Deep Purple
on their 1974 tour which was an ideal opportunity for them to promote their
Carolina County Ball album. This was their best effort, subsequent US-only albums paled
by comparison but in any case when Ritchie Blackmore hired Dio, Soule, Edwards
and Gruber to help him record his solo Ritchie Blackmore's
Rainbow album the band became defunct...(Tapestry of Delights)
