This is the new 2021 Brazil limited edition LP (180G VINYL) of Elis Regina's classic 1972 album "ELIS", with new mixing and mastering by João Marcello Bôscoli, the singer's son. Originally released in 1972 by the Philips record label, the album featured several novelties in Elis Regina's career. It is the singer's first album produced by Roberto Menescal, who also helped in choosing the repertoire of songs by young composers. This is also the first Elis Regina album with arrangements by pianist César Camargo Mariano, with whom Elis would start a fruitful musical and emotional partnership. César (piano) enlisted great musicians to be the Elis Regina backing band: Hélio Delmiro (guitar), Luizão Maia (double bass), Paulinho Braga (drums) and Chico Batera (percussion). Here Elis delivers more intimate and mature interpretations, valued by the sophisticated sound of the album. Among the highlights are 'Nada Será Como Antes' (Milton Nascimento / Ronaldo Bastos), 'Atrás da Porta' (Chico Buarque / Francis Hime), 'Me Deixa em Paz' (Ivan Lins / Ronaldo Monteiro de Souza), 'Casa no Campo' (Zé Rodrix / Tavito) and 'Águas de Março' (Antonio Carlos Jobim).

ABOUT ELIS REGINA: With her powerful, elegant voice and intense stage presence, Elis Regina was one of the most ferociously talented singers to emerge from Brazil. A perfectionist who was frequently dissatisfied, Regina drove herself and musical partners relentlessly, leading to her being dubbed "Hurricane" and "Little Pepper" by musicians and journalists. Her tempestuous nature aside, she commanded the respect of Brazil's leading songwriters, who lined up for the chance to have her record one of their songs, and for much of her short life she was the country's most popular female vocalist. She recorded a string of successful albums in the late 60s and specially in the 70s. In the late '70s, after the end of her second marriage, she began using cocaine regularly, but managed to keep her increasing dependence on the drug well hidden from friends and family. Regina began 1982 by marrying for a third time, signing a new recording contract, and in general, planning for the future. All of this came to a halt on January 19, 1982, when she was found dead of alcohol and cocaine intoxication at age 36. Initially, her death was rumored to be a suicide, but there is no evidence indicating that it was anything more than a tragic accident. To this day, this gifted, mercurial singer remains as one of Brazilian finest ever singers.
