Beautiful copy of the original 1961 pressing of Ella’s Harold Arlen Songbook double-LP on Verve V-4046. One of her great series of Song Book records, each focusing on a specific songwriter of the Golden Age. This copy is just beautiful. The discs have some light scuffs in places but they are essentially superficial and don’t affect the play at all. All four sides play nearly perfectly with very few issues to mention. Occasional background crackle between songs, maybe, but barely even much of that. Only once or twice, barely. There is a bold scuff on side 3 that is visible but makes no sound at all. That whole side still plays pretty much flawlessly, like all the other sides. A few other superficial scuffs here and there but really there is barely the slightest crackle even between songs. Just a beautiful playing copy. The cover has some general wear, with rubbed corners, edge whitening, ringwear, and some short seam splits. The top two seams are split, one about halfway across, the other about 1/3 across, and the bottom two are also split about 1 and 2 inches. Still a nicely intact and striking cover. The booklet inside is in excellent condition, perfectly intact, crisp and clean. Also comes with both original Verve inner sleeves. Really a beautiful original copy that sounds just wonderful. Hard to beat.
