DESCRIPTION

Ella Fitzgerald - “Ella Swings Lightly” Verve Records MG VS-64021 (Stereo) from 1958. Hard to find Original Stereo Press of this great Female Jazz / Pop Vocal album from the legendary Ella Fitzgerald. A great selection of Standards and Ballads Arranged and Conducted by Marty Paich. On the Black with Silver Print No ® Verve Stereo Labels, I belive this is a slightly later repressing as these are the same Labels from 1956-1960 as used on the First Pressing but they do not have the Deep Groove of the First Pressing. In the Original Cover with No Cutouts, Promo markings or Barcode.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight basic shelf wear and corner softening. There is a small peel near the spine. There is an old price tag in the upper right corner - should be easily removable. There is a bit of dirtiness visible on the white parts of the cover. There is a little red stamp on the back in the lower right corner. Still very solid with no splits, stains, writing, tears, cutouts, etc. and I would rate it as at least VG. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition looking lightly played. If you look closely you can spot a few slight scuffs. Plays pretty much perfectly Near Mint all through. I’m calling it EX to account for the very slight visual flaws but plays better. The Labels show a few faint spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint.

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. I provide Play Grades as a courtesy but only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
