Hello everyone,
I'm auctioning 20 LPs which include 2 box sets and 3 double albums, 26 discs in total. 5 discs also feature Satchmo, playing and singing. The sleeve is graded first and records second.
VERVE LABEL.
1 Ella and Louis Starportrait 2622003 2 Disc box set. Booklet Mint condition / Box Exc + / Disc 1 Exc + Couple of small/fine non-sounding marks / Disc 2 Exc - On last track there is 1 click per revolution for around 1 minute. Both discs otherwise have a very quiet replay.
2 Sings Cole Porter 2683 044 Double album Exc + / Exc + One, non-sounding, finest of fine lines on 2 tracks / Mint
3 Sings Kern and Mercer 2610 025 Double album One mark on front otherwise Exc + / Exc + / Exc - - Some light, only occasional, surface noise.
4 Sings Irving Berlin 2683 027 Double album Mark on front, track times marked on inner VG ++ / Mint / Mint / Super replay.
5 ..at Juan - les Pins VLP 9083 VG + + / Exc - Quiet background.
6 Hello Dolly SVLP 9073 Exc + + / Exc - Quiet background.
7 Ella & Basie 2317 048 Vg + + / Exc Quiet background.
8 ...at Duke's Place VLP 9119 EXC - / EXC - - One light sounding mark, once per revolution for 45 secs.
PABLO LABEL
9 ...at The Santa Monica Civic 2625 701 3 Disc Box set Exc - Couple of split corners Poster Exc + + / Mint / Mint / Exc 3 small non-sounding marks All inner sleeves are original despite 2 being silver and 1 white Numbers on sleeves tally.
10 Fine and Mellow 2310 829 Exc - - / Exc - - / a little surface noise on a couple of tracks, nothing nasty.
11 ..with Joe Pass 2310 702 Exc + / Exc +
12 Montreux 2310 751 Exc + One crease on back / Exc.
HMV LABEL
13 Elle and Louis CLP 1098 Nice sleeve but tear front, bottom right Therefore VG ++ / Vg ++ Although there are some marks, they are fine and not serious. The replay is very quiet. I have a mint copy and it plays and sounds the same.
14 Hello Love CLP 1383 Exc - - / VG ++ Some light marks which give occasional light surface noise. In my humble opinion her best album of ballads.
15 Songs for Swingers CLP 1322 VG No major defects, just a bit grubby / VG +++ Surface marks and surface noise but not all the time. Plays better than it looks.
St MICHAEL LABEL
16 Tenderly 2102/0102 VG + + Front and back exc but edges are worn. / Exc For some artists the M&S label is very collectable. This album is the stereo version of Hello Love.
MFP LABEL
17 Ella & Louis MFP 1296 Exc - / Exc + Half a dozen or so clicks track 1, side 1.
CAPITOL LABEL
18 Brighten the Corner ST 2685 Mint - / Exc +
19 Brighten the Corner SM 11793 Exc / Exc + The mono recording of the above.
MCA LABEL
20 Ella & her Fellas MCL 1705 EXC / Exc There are 4 tracks with Louis and a lovely calypso with Louis Jordan, and it sounds wonderful.
Many of the records come with their original sleeves.
I have been frank in my grading, over critical I would say but I I'd like to hear a buyer say that they sound and look better than described, sooner than the opposite.
