ELO : Face The Music A4 / B4 1st Press Limited Edition Green Vinyl 1978

This limited edition album plays with incredible audio on both sides and as always I have listened to every track in full.  The clarity, depth and warmth of the audio is stunning and I have only downgraded one track on S1 to Near Mint because of one very light tick!  There are no clicks or pops anywhere and no background static either.  'One Summer Dream' in particular plays with sublime quality which in a way you would not expect primarily because final tracks often have sound issues.  This is a fine example of this very collectable coloured vinyl and not surprisingly it is visually in fantastic condition also.

The laminated cover (with sticker) has been looked after so well with no obvious wear, it is easily the best I have ever seen.  The lyric inner has some light marking on one side but is otherwise in excellent shape.

Visual description

The vinyl is in lovely condition and the bright green transparent look is still as vivid as ever.  When I look under a bright light I cannot find any hairlines and obviously there are no marks or scratches.  It is visually stunning and the Jet labels have no spindle wear.

Play grading

The quiet intro on 'Fire On High' plays with exceptional clarity.  There is barely any static and I do mean barely!  It could hardly play any better and proceeds in the same way.  The haunting orchestral section is stunning and as the volume increases there is no drop in quality.  Great depth and power as the synthesiser and drums come in the audio is still 'as new' and the same applies to the first acoustic passage.  The remainder is just as strong and clear and I have no hesitation in grading this as Mint- and I'm not even sure the minus is necessary!

The intro on 'Waterfall' plays with impeccable clarity and Lynne's opening vocal section is more or less the same with just one quiet tick, there is no other background.  From then on it plays with no intrusion and again you cannot fault the clarity of sound.  I'll say Near Mint but 99% is better than!

'Evil Woman' also plays with real quality from the word go.  The intro has next to no static and the rest of the track has no interference either.  Clarity wise it's perhaps just a fraction below the previous tracks but you have to listen carefully to notice any difference!  Near Mint

The intro on 'Nightrider' has a couple of minor statics and the opening vocal has no intrusion.  It continues in much the same although not quite as vocally clear as it could be.  I'm just being 100% honest and it still plays really well with no actual interference.  I so often mention the minor differences in sonic quality as the end of the side approaches, this is vinyl!  It still deserves a Near Mint grade.

The powerful intro on 'Poker' is nigh on perfect with only a couple of background statics and Groucutt's opening vocal section is exactly that, perfect.  The bluesy mid section is flawless and the remainder is strong and dynamic with zero intrusion.  Mint-

The entire intro on 'Strange Magic' plays beautifully and the quiet opening vocal plays with sublime clarity also.  This high level is very much maintained throughout.  It's a relatively quiet number and yet there is nothing to detract from the audio and sonically it is as strong as it was back in '78.... in my opinion.  A superb Mint- version.  Even the long fade out has no background.

'Down Home Town' has no interference but again you can tell (very slightly) that it is the penultimate track.  Near Mint is fair.

The orchestral / vocal intro on 'One Summer Dream' plays with stunning precision.  The first 'verse' is 'as new' with a clarity and warmth that is second to none and it continues in exactly the same way. It is sonically so impressive for a final track and by turning it up loud the sound envelops the entire room, it is a stunning sound!  Every vocal and instrumental section plays so clearly and the long fade out section keeps up the standard also - incredible clarity and depth with no intrusion whatsoever.  This is the definitive version in my opinion and quite possibly my favourite track on the album!  Supposedly it is a protest song and I do not think you could find a cleaner more distinct version.  Mint- is 100% deserved.

The Cover & Lyric Inner

The cover is in great condition with minimal wear only.  The edges and spine have no marking / rubbing and the corners are in superb shape also.  The opening edge has no handling wear and the front cover is close to perfect with just a small amount of laminate lift next to the spine and a couple of tiny 'rubs' next to the opening edge.  As can be seen the original sticker is still firmly attached.   The back cover has no issues at all, maybe a couple of tiny rubs again by the top edge but at first glance it certainly looks perfect.  A stunning example overall.

The die-cut lyric inner has no side splits or tears but does have a little spotting and some faint marking down the right edge on the lyric side.  The reverse side is very clean with only a couple of faint spots.

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
