Description

  • The album was first released in the U.S. on October 24, 1977 (promo) and officially on November 3, 1977.
  • Approximately 10,000 translucent blue vinyl copies were pressed for the initial U.S. run.
  • Although some were sent to radio stations and reviewers as promotional copies, many were also sold in regular record stores, so they were not promo-only editions.
  • These first pressings came in a gatefold sleeve and originally included:
    • a full-color band poster,
    • printed lyric inner sleeves,
    • the famous cardboard ELO Space Station punch-out model,
    • and a fan club/order insert.

The vinyl itself is translucent see thru clear Blue. 

Collectors generally regard the original U.S. translucent blue pressing as one of the most desirable versions of Out of the Blue.
