WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original DJM Records very first Stereo press released in Chile in 1974 by DJM Records, made and distributed by Discos BANGLAD (Banglad Records), licensed from Dick James Music Ltd., England, catalog number LPXXX DJ-31, with hand etched matrix numbers DJ-31-A EB-CD in Side A and DJ-31-B EB-CD in Side B, with yellow/black DJM/Banglad Records labels of the period. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

The first to say about this record, “Daniel”, is that it’s a compilation album, as far as I know, ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE and, like usual in the period, we got it with a UNIQUE COVER, made of two single pieces of thin cardboard, with front cover pasted on the flaps of back cover. Front cover has a UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, a picture of Bernie Taupin, with the name of Elton John, album title at the left side and the DJM Records logo at left bottom corner. Back cover has the name of Elton John and a subtitle “Volando Alto” (in English, “Flying High”), the pictures of personnel and song titles written in Spanish only, except “Rocket Man”, which’s written in English only, with DJM Records logo and catalog number at top right corner and credits for Elton John and Bernie Taupin as songwriters of all songs. In labels, the album title is written at top and the tracklist is written in Spanish only, except “Rocket Man”, which’s written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about licenses and rights society. If you know the discography of Elton John you could have also noticed that pictures of personnel used in Chilean back cover of this album are the same pictures of back cover of original 1974 album “Caribou”, one of them edited to show only Bernie Taupin (Elton John was cropped), and with the error that Ray Cooper doesn’t participate in any song included in this Chilean album. In front cover it’s a big picture of Bernie Taupin, taken from the booklet included in the 1973 album “Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player”. Curiously, in this album, the picture of Elton John was omitted, even though I have the idea someone in Chile mistook Elton John for Bernie Taupin. Two songs included in this Chilean album are taken from 1972 album “Honky Château” (*) and the other 6 songs are taken from the 1973 album “Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player” (**). In back cover, the tracklist is wrong, it informs “Canción De Amor” (“Texan Love Song”) and “Piedad Para El Asesino” (“Have Mercy On The Criminal”), which are not included in the album, and omitted songs “Daniel” and “I’m Going To Be A Teenage Idol”, which are included. Another fact to notice is that song “Rocket Man” has the part of title between brackets omitted (correct title is “Rocket Man [I Think It's Going To Be A Long, Long Time]”) and that Spanish translations were also shortened: “High Flying Bird” should be “Pájaro Volando Alto”, “I'm Going Be A Teenage Idol” should be “Voy A Ser Un Idolo Adolescente” (for some reason, they decided to translate only “Teenage Idol” and with word “Teenage” kept in English), and “Blues For Baby And Me” should be “Tristezas Para Mi Y El Bebé” (or literal, “Tristezas Para El Bebé Y Yo”). And more, the songs listed in label, Side B, as numbers 3 and 4, are reversed, the song 3 in record is “I'm Going Be A Teenage Idol” ans song 4 is “Blues For Baby And Me”. So, here you have the chance to get and own this compilation album by Elton John (or maybe an edited version of album “Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player”), ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE, with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, with Spanish-written song titles and with UNIQUE ERRORS, a record rarely seen and A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Pop and Soft Rock music and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Elton John. WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in nice VG- or even VG condition, with moderate wear in all edges, more evident in corners and the mouth edge, with many creases, faint ring marks, some faint tears and blemishes, and little rips, with the name of a past owner written in back cover, with a seam split of about 2 inches in the fake spine, which’s only possible to see when you look inside the cover. The record is in VG- or even VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with loads and loads of scuffs, light and not so light hairlines and some scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great EX or EX+ condition the Side A, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear, and in VG+ or EX- condition the Side B, almost same condition as Side A but with faint marks of humidity and the name of a past owner written above and below the spindle hole. The sound is in strong VG or even VG+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant crackles and regular light and not so light pops and clicks, more evident in the silent parts, which could cause some distraction but music keeps loud and clear from the beginning to end. Overall, this is a great record by Elton John, in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS and ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE, with UNIQUE COVER, with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, with Spanish-written song titles and with UNIQUE ERRORS, for sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but for also sure with still a nice cover and the record with still a nice glossy look, clear and clean labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 51 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press. Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

Due to new restrictions imposed by the USA on parcel services worldwide, Correos Chile has suspended package shipments to the USA. Now, my only option for sending a package from Chile to the USA is the private FedEx service, through Correos Chile. The shipping cost for records is as follows:
